The I-65 Central Corridor Project will rehabilitate one of Kentucky’s busiest corridors: I-65 in Louisville.

About the Project

The I-65 Central Corridor Project will rehabilitate interstate bridges and pavement in a heavily traveled corridor of I-65 between I-264 (Watterson Expressway) and the Muhammad Ali Boulevard interchange in downtown Louisville. This stretch of I-65 supports some of Kentucky’s largest employers and important destinations, including UPS, Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center, the University of Louisville and the LOUMED.

The I-65 Central Corridor Project will focus on improving safety and preventing unplanned closures while adding decades of life to these structures. At least six bridges in the project area will be replaced or rehabilitated during the next three years. Pre-construction started mid-2024. KYTC is working to determine available state and federal funding to support improvements to an additional 12 bridges.
