Overnight lane closures are expected in Louisville this weekend. Contract crews will continue preparations in advance of the I-65 closure this summer as part of the I-65 Central Corridor project.
Drivers can expect the following closures:
Friday, May 15 through Monday, May 18 | 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night
- Southbound I-65 one lane closed at the I-65/I-264 interchange (milepoint 131.2 to milepoint 130.3)
- Off-ramp lane closure from eastbound I-264 (milepoint 11.8) to southbound I-65 (milepoint 130.3)
What to Expect This Summer
Five miles of I-65 are scheduled to close between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and downtown Louisville (Jefferson Street) early on Monday, June 1. I-65 is expected to reopen to two lanes of traffic on Saturday, Aug. 1. A two-mile section of southbound I-65 between University Boulevard and the Watterson Expressway (I-264) is expected to reopen to two lanes of traffic by Wednesday, July 1.
As preparations continue, residents and businesses near the corridor should expect around-the-clock construction activity, including nighttime operations. Crews are working overnight to accelerate progress and limit the duration of the interstate closure.
