Chestnut Street under I-65 to close in mid-October
As progress continues on the I-65 Central Corridor bridge replacement and rehabilitation project, upcoming traffic restrictions are scheduled in downtown Louisville.
Gray Street
As a reminder, Gray Street under I-65 is anticipated to close early Monday, Oct. 5 and reopen by late November. A signed detour will be in place.
Muhammad Ali Boulevard Pedestrian Access
Sidewalk access on Muhammad Ali under I-65 is scheduled to close early Monday, Oct. 5 and reopen by mid-October to safely accommodate demolition work in the area. A signed pedestrian detour will be in place.
Chestnut Street
Chestnut Street under I-65 is expected to close early Monday, Oct. 19 and reopen by late November as crews demolish the existing bridge. A signed detour will be in place.
Crews are continuing to demolish existing bridges, and restrictions are moving north with project progress. Click here to review anticipated impacts to local streets this year.
Overnight Lane Restrictions
Monday, Oct 5 through Wednesday, Oct. 7
- One lane closed on the on-ramp from westbound I-264 to southbound I-65
Overnight restrictions are in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane will remain open during overnight work.
Accessing Downtown/Hospitals
Drivers exiting northbound I-65 at Broadway (Exit 136 A) who are not accessing LOUMED facilities (downtown hospitals, JCTC and others) should turn right and go east on Broadway. Clay Street can be used to travel north into downtown. Drivers with destinations outside the downtown medical district are advised to use alternate routes and to avoid the nearby sections of Broadway, Brook, Chestnut, Floyd, Gray, Jacob Muhammad Ali Boulevard, and Preston streets during ongoing construction. Access remains open to all downtown hospitals.
