The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the upcoming closures of S. Brook Street and Kentucky Street, and Hill Street and Burnett Avenue in downtown Louisville as part of work for the I-65 Central Corridor Project. The road closures are scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 3, and will remain in place through the spring of 2027.
Details regarding traffic impacts are listed below:
- Intersection of S. Brook Street and Kentucky Street Closure:
o A detour will be in place on S. Brook Street between Kentucky Street and Ardella Court, and on Kentucky Street between First Street and S. Brook Street.
o Local access will be available on S. Brook Street, between Ardella Court and Caldwell Street. Local access also will be available on Kentucky Street to allow entrance to alleys on the south side of the roadway, just east of First Street.
These road closures are necessary for preliminary work to an I-65 off-ramp at St. Catherine Street (Exit 35) and an interstate bridge as part of the I-65 Central Corridor project.
- Intersection of Hill Street and Burnett Avenue:
o A detour will be in place on Burnett Avenue, between Floyd Street and the connection with Preston Street on the north side of the CSX rail line.
o A detour also will be in place on Hill Street, between Floyd Street and Preston Street on the south side of the CSX rail line.
Signage will be in place to direct motorists of the traffic changes and recommended detours during the closures.
